Grand Teton National Park Public Lands Day Event

On Sept. 27, volunteers will gather to weatherproof the wooden rails on the west Jenny Lake boat dock and Chasm Bridge. Volunteers will meet at the Moose Ponds Trail parking area and then hike about a mile to the project site to oil the handrails. Clothes that double as comfortable hiking attire and workwear are encouraged. Bring water, snacks, hats and sunscreen, Timby said. There are no bathrooms on that side of the lake. Tools, materials and gloves will be provided. All ages and skill levels are invited to attend. More projects in the area can be arranged depending on the number of volunteers who sign up. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on that Saturday.
